Delivery of Samsung 1632 “WOODSIDE DONALDSON”

Newbuilding Hull no. 1632 “WOODSIDE DONALDSON” from Samsung Heavy Industries Co. Ltd. – the fifth in a series of six 165.500 m³ DF electric LNG carriers – was on 19 October 2009 taken over by A.P. Moller Singapore.

Not only does this new vessel have an upgraded boil-off gas cooler, which will significantly reduce the necessary amount of LNG for cooling and thus make the carrier more fuel efficient, but also a much more striking feature: 3 jumping kangaroos on each side of the vessel, which was a rather unusual task for the yard. The Australian oil and gas company Woodside, which will charter the vessel for 30 years, had specially requested this new design and colour scheme.

With this untraditional colour scheme, we believe that the vessel and the kangaroos will be noticed and appreciated wherever she sails.
