Since 1992, Maersk Maritime Technology has managed approximately 400 newbuilding projects at various yards and locations around the world.
We have managed many different ship types, varying from very large container ships and tankers to highly complex offshore supply and standby vessels.
Maersk Maritime Technology’s specialised engineers do newbuilding project management services on:
- Outline specification
- Yard selection
- Full specification
- Plan approval
- Construction supervision
- Acceptance tests and delivery
In the first phases of a newbuilding project, our engineers and naval architects assist in writing a suitable outline specification based on the owner’s requirements.
Hereafter, we are able to assist with yard evaluation and selection based on our large experience with various yards. Upon selection of shipyard we assist with the full ship specification, including negotiations with the shipyard.
Upon signing of contract we assist with plan approval, where the design is optimised in terms of our extensive knowledge and experience on general arrangements, model tests, structures, machinery, electrical systems and paint systems. In addition, the design may be scrutinised for energy efficiency.
A site office is established at the yard with experienced staff who supervise the newbuilding project from the very first cutting of steel plates. Later, the site office team attend and supervise various acceptance tests onboard the ship and at major suppliers of, for example, main and auxiliary engines.
Upon completion and acceptance of sea trials, Maersk Maritime Technology hand over the vessel to the owner with all necessary documentation and certificates for a safe and efficient onward voyage of the vessel.
